Things I Hate

Arpz has tagged me to list down things that I Hate

Firstly, I personally believe, that 'Hate' is a very harsh word n should be sparingly used and practice this thought ...i prefer to use the word dislike instead.
Secondly, dislike or hate (in extreme cases) is cannot hate someone for life for doing something...(exceptions do exist) and it may also be that the person/thing changes over a period of time.

With a lil bit of my life's fundas in place I now let all my energies be channelised for jotting down the hated/disliked things/people at the moment.

1 I hate dishonesty. Honesty is one of the topmost virtues a person can possess... still I use the word dislike here coz we know that some lies are inevitable.. we all lie for at some point or the other for some reason or the other.

2 I dislike people who dont believe in dignity of labor. No job is menial. Treating someone without respect just beacuse he/she is doing some work which you label as low is a sure sign that I will deduct your 2 brownie points. The lady who comes to clean deserves a Good Morning as much as your boss and w eshould be thankful to the guy cleaning the toilets coz if he wasnt doing the 'low' work then you n I would be doing it. Forcibly, if not willingly.

3 People who go on and on and on ... Thanx but no thanx ... I dont want to know what you think about yourself and everything excluding yourself.... and last of all I want to know what you think about me. So please shutup.

4 People who dont treat their parents well. They are the people who brought you to this world and raised u and did everything for you. If u dont respect them then I hate you. Yes , I hate such people.

5 Cruelty towards animals. Please note that I do not consider eating non-veg as cruelty towards animals, as I am a voracious non veg eater myself.

6 I dislike a lot of things about myself. The fact that I relent to temptation, that I sometimes speak without thinking, that I get carried away at times... and the list continues... but as I mentioned I dislike things about myself... on the whole I dont dislike myself .

7 I dislike people who resort to regional attribution... sardars are this, jaats are that, bengalis are X, southies are Y... how the hell can a whole section of India's population be alike???

8 I dislike the time when people dont take their work seriously and in turn create problems for others... as it is you are spoiling your work.. please be considerate not to make life hell for others by your actions. The amount of time that has to be spent in correcting tings coz they were not done correctly the first time...

That sums up the list for now... I cant think of other people/things/situations which I dislike.

In turn I would like to tag
Choti Bachi
If-i-tell-ya-i-will-have-to-kill-ya (gal if u r reading this then lemme tell u writing this big a name is a torure. Risking my life I hereby ask your name)

Its been snowing regularly for the past two weeks... the temp is anywhere between a chilling -10 Deg C to a warm 0 Deg C... and on days when we are lucky enough to have sunshine, we even have temperature in positive... AMAZING.. isn't it??? But my rant is not about the weather.. It's the way we handle it .. the way Mother Nature has been unsincere with half of the earth's population... The Men... the so called stronger sex.

While I move about in my huddled like a ball stance, protected by sweater and a jacket and desperately waiting to reach office in the mornings, I can only feel cheated when I look at the girl who is quite comfortable baring her legs in a mini skirt... I look away - more from envy than guilt of staring at her legs.

Not only here .. back home in India too women somehow feel less cold ... no wonder Diya Mirza can sing 'Zara zara behakta hain' in Swiss Alps in a skimpy outfit, while Madhavan, the lad from south - whose idea of a chilly winter is 20 degrees celcius in Chennai, can only manage to pull a smile, that too frozen.. Poor guy...Reportedly, the hypothermia has done such irreversible damage that the only smile he's left with now, is frozen. How Salman Khan n Hrithik Roshan can manage a bare-chested stint in snow n still be alive to tell the tale beats me.

If bearing the harsh European winters is a matter of strength then we still need to do some homework... For the time being I pronounce Women as the stronger sex... not only that .. they are also the warmer sex.

Here two of the most romantic poems I know:-

shaguftagi ka, latafat ka, shahkaar ho tum
fakat bahar nahi, haasil-e-bahar ho tum
jo ek phool mein hain kaid, woh gulistaan ho
jo ek kali mein hain pinha, woh lalazaar ho tum
latafato ki tamanna, nazakato ki uraad
guroor kaliyon ka, phoolon ka inkesaar ho tum
jise tarang mein fitrat ne gungunaya hain
woh bhairavi, ho woh deepak, ho woh malhaar ho tum
tumhare jism mein khabeeda hain hazaro raag
nigah chedti hain jisko, woh sitar ho tum
jise utha na sake justajoo, woh moti ho
jise na gunth sake arzoo, woh haar ho tum
jise na boojh sake ishq, woh paheli ho
jise na samajh saka pyar bhi woh pyar ho tum
khuda kare kisi daaman mein janam ho nan sake
yeh mere ashq-e-hasin, jinse aashiqaar ho tum

~Kaifi Azmi

zindagi naam hain kuch lamho ka
aur unme mein bhi wahi ek lamha
jisme do bolti aankhen
chai ki pyali se jab uthein
to dil mein doobey
doob ke dil mein kahe
aaj tum kuch na kaho
aaj hum kuch na kahein
bas unhi baithey rahe
haath mein haath liye
gum ki saugaat liye
kaun jaane ki isi lamhe mein
door parbat par kahin barf pighalne hi lage

Not So Funny Cartoons

They certainly aren't funny... not to me atleast... Something which has caused so much of controversy, agitation and protest... The recent controversy over the Prophet Mohammed cartoons in the Danish paper Jyllands Posten on September 30, 2005 has sparked of a series of everything. More cartoons, more protests, more bonfires, more cartoons again and more counter cartoons.

It turmoil started taking simmering in 2004 when the movie "
Submission" by Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh was released. Working from a script written by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, van Gogh created the 10-minute movie Submission. The movie deals with the topic of violence against women in Islamic societies.... telling the stories of four abused Muslim women. The title itself, "Submission", is the translation of the word "Islam" in english. In the film, the women's naked bodies are veiled with semi-transparent shrouds as they kneel in prayer, telling their stories as if they are speaking to Allah. Quranic verses unfavourable to women are painted on their bodies in Arabic.... after the movie was released in 2004, both van Gogh and Hirsi Ali received death threats

Van Gogh was murdered in the early morning of Tuesday November 2, 2004, in Amsterdam... Eight bullets, slit throat and two knives implanted in his torso… Mohammed Bouyeri was arrested along with eight Islamic radicals belonging to a group later referred to as the Hofstad Network.
BBC coverage on the issue

Come 2005 and a writer named Kåre Bluitgen wrote a children's book about the profet Muhammed's life and searched artists to do some illustrations of Muhammed. He only found one artist willing to draw but the artist demanded that his name wouldn't be mentioned. He feared violent attacks from angry muslims (keep in mind the van Gogh murder was still pretty recent). This made Kåre Bluitgen, who is very leftist, openly question the self-censorship and freedom of expression in Denmark. Danish Muslim organizations organised protests after these cartoons were published. As the controversy has grown, some or all of the cartoons have been reprinted in newspapers in more than 30 other countries, which eventually led to significant unrest around the world, particularly in Islamic countries where the cartoons were seen as culturally insensitive, rather outrageous.

As an aftermath of this,
more cartoons are being churned out as u read this… Photoshop contests to create more offensive cartoons, anti semitic cartoons, anti Israel cartoons, anti US cartoons…Hell!! even Lord Ganesha hasn’t been spared… (as if M F Hussain and fashion designers, who are inspired to put Hindu deities on undergarments, hadn’t done enough already)

Anti Humanity Cartoons – that’s what they are....
What next???Where are we heading ??? Can the world handle more
Crusades??? I think not....

My fav color is
Anything but Blue.
Lemme explain...

Imagine a Red apple. Its red in color and lets say its your fav color. But is the apple really Red ??? Is it ??

Its not that the apple is emitting some light of it own for then we would be able to see the apple in dark as well. It is merely reflecting the white light ambient on it. We all have been thru high school science and know that objects appear to us coz they absorb some or none of the light and reflect the rest. It is this reflected light that forms the image and the mind interprets it as red.
And It absorbs all the colors in white light and reflets Red, so in reality red is the only color the apple doesnt contain - hence we are seeing it as red. Does it occur to you that the something black is so full of colors. It contains all the colors.

Hmmmmm.....This might explain why black trousers will do just fine with any colored shirt.
